The Flâneur

Tohby Riddle’s article ‘The Twenty-First Century Flâneur’ appears in Slow Magazine, Issue 18, Autumn 2014. This piece looks at the history of this enigmatic city stroller and observer – first identified in 19th-century Paris – and what it is to be a flâneur today. Issue 18 is Slow Magazine‘s ‘shelter’ issue. It covers various kinds of human habitations, including the growing Tiny House movement, which playfully re-evaluates our need for increasingly costly space.
